Scene: Set in a pretty, peaceful MontCo town, Tex Mex Connection slings margaritas, quesadillas and tequilas as if it was located somewhere south and west rather than North and Wales.
You can’t miss the adobe-colored building with bright blue fabric awnings: It can probably be seen from space, or at least the water tower near the five points intersection of 463/309/202.
Inside, the building is very cozy and house-like, which adds to its near-the-border vibe, as do the warm-colored walls punctuated with Tex-Mex tiles. The bar area is off to the left inside the foyer with its low ceiling offering up space for TVs, and margarita glasses that hold the bar’s signature drink. High tables and a bar rail fill out the remainder of the area. (Rain made the outdoors inclement on this night, but outdoor parties are held every second Friday in June, July, August and September.) Most guests seem like regulars or locals, and range in age from 21-45.
On three separate visits, the ratio of girls to guys always leaned to the ladies, which is terrific for guys who see enough chorizo parties at bars.

Staff: Two blonde females and two males handled tables and the bar area capably. Their most notable shared trait: they seemed to be having a GREAT time. They were jovial, playful and friendly. Their enthusiasm rubbed off on the rest of the Friday night crowd.

Food: Locals swear by the scratch kitchen. While the entrees (tantalizingly described steaks, chicken and fish) are tempting, many casual bar drinkers are drawn to the Chile Con Queso ($5.50)– the green chiles and cheese “dip” that is a perfect soul mate for tortilla chips. Quesadillas, fajitas, chimichangas – practically anything ending in “as” is available.

Sounds: A digital jukebox pumped out rock, dance and pop that effectively drowned out the thunderstorm outside.

Games: Touchscreen game and electronic darts.

Parking: The rear lot fills up quickly. There are other spots nearby, just make sure parking in them is permitted.

Overheard: “I don’t think she’s wearing a bra.”
- a man at the bar in regard to a woman who had just come in out of the rain.
(Editor’s note: She was not.)
